TERESA TOMÁS

(Spain – Espanha)

TERESA TOMÁS - frees the sculpture from its pedestal in her painting, initiating the development of her cinematic work. The creation of animations produced through 3D modeling, animation, and rendering programs has influenced her conception of the painting as a frame in the film montage. Her digital sculptures are constructed using geometric meshes and employ assembly and collage techniques within the Duchampian tradition of the found object. The use of virtual reality gives her complete control over the physical simulation of matter, which is manipulated for poetic purposes.

Recently, her latest animations have been showcased in various exhibitions organized by the Ministry of Education and Culture, at the Cervantes Institutes in Bucharest and Prague, Xanadu Gallery in Warsaw, and Meinblau Projecktraum in Berlin. They have also been featured at Today. TAM. Art Museum in Beijing, TOTAL Museum in Seoul, and the Spanish Embassy in Tokyo.

Her video art works have been screened in international galleries and festivals such as Artfarm in Verona, CeC in India, Video Art Festival Miden in Greece, Keeping Afloat in London, Unfolding Sequences in Montreal, International Artists Screening in Manchester, Tu Berlin por mi Valencia in Berlin, and Overlapping Memories in Pittsburgh. In the national circuit, her works have been featured in exhibitions like Espacios Activados in CAMA in Almería, Digital Art Awards at MEIAC in Badajoz, MADATAC in Madrid, Espacio Enter at TEA in Tenerife, Festival Miradas deMujer at La Casa Encendida in Madrid, among others.

SYNOPSIS:

NADIE EN LAS ABUELAS: The author reflects on the analogy of her time and her language. The hourglass marks the geometry with which Teresa Tomás has shaped the design of coffee sets throughout her career. The image of the ancestor will be forever linked to the coffee pot's function. The functional and aesthetic principles that govern the interaction of one object with another seem to harmonize with symbolic and magical elements. The monarch's pitcher serves its pawns in the same way that the Genie grants a wish to the cup, renewing its personality when serving coffee. In "BIRD GAME," this metamorphosis is even more significant, as the GREAT-GRANDFATHER, the owl-coffee pot, will transform the other birds into animated beings with cup-shaped heads in the painting. PIÓN and MUSICI, two of these characters, will accompany NADIE, the protagonist of the animation, on his pilgrimage to the vanished Metro Cuadrado art gallery in search of the author's artistic origin, materialized in the series "WE ARE ALL LAGARPOS." The tribal image formed by the avatars and big-headed figures in the final scene heralds the self that comes into play. Coffee as a measure of time.

SYNOPSIS:

TIC TAC, RELOJ: Coffee, a traveler amidst the folds of time and space, awakens memories in a fragrant corner of shared moments. Moments of light and clarity.

Like an oracle in the shadows, it weaves threads with traditions, pulsating to the rhythm of the present moment. Beyond the cup, coffee becomes a path that transports us through thresholds connecting yesterdays to as-yet-undiscovered futures.

A dark and bitter elixir that holds a subtle riddle, like an unchanging clock, sways to its own rhythm, marking the perpetual flow of the now.
