ISA SEPPI - Dancer, choreographer and virtual artist, PhD in "Multimeios" Institute of Arts at UNICAMP (Campinas, São Paulo) Graduated in Media Digital Art from Universidade Aberta de Lisboa. For 12 years, with her avatar Janjii Rugani (Nataraj) has worked as an artist, choreographer and researcher of art produced in three-dimensional virtual environments, the metaverses where she maintains a cultural space and develops the MADaboutDANCE company. Bachelor's Degree in Painting from the Faculty of Fine Arts of São Paulo , Degree in Artistic Education from the Faculty of Fine Arts of São Paulo, Bachelor's Degree in Fine Arts from the Faculty of Fine Arts of São Paulo , graduated in Full Degree in Performing Arts from "Faculdade Marcelo Tupinambá" , Specialist in Art Education from "Escola de Comunicação e Artes da USP", Specialist in Cultural Action from "Escola de Comunicação e Artes da USP" and Master in Education by the University City of São Paulo. In the Digital Art Media area, she works mainly on the following topics: exhibition curatorship, virtual art, virtual dance, direction and event production. Professional experience as an Art Education advisor, Coordination of Higher Undergraduate and Graduate Courses. Professor and researcher.

SYNOPSIS:

STICK DANCE MIXED REALITIES: is a hybrid movie where was edited together, a video and a machinima, of a reconstitution in Real life and Second Life of the STICK DANCE by Oskar Schlemmer, a teacher and artistic director of the Bauhaus. This hybrid movie exercise propose a reflection about the frontiers between realities where we avatars are living on XXI century.

When he was teacher of Bauhaus (German avantgarde school of designers, art and architecture) he developed a series of dances at the theater workshop including the STICK DANCE and Triadic Ballet.

In this challenging exercise of abstraction, he developed new poetic forms to animate the performing arts.

The project to rebuild the STICK DANCE was a contribution to a broader research project of Professor Ernesto Boccara to reconstitute the Triadic Ballet at the Centro Universitario SENAC, São Paulo, Brazil.

The art teacher, dancer and designer Isa Seppi, in partnership with Prof. Lucio Agra, conducted the opening performance of sticks for a real-life ballet performance in 2008.

It has now been recreated in Second Life by her avatar, Janjii Rugani. In another exercise she is studying the conversion of analog language to digital 3D, seeking to preserve the concepts defined by Schlemmer in 1922.

The music for the Second Life performance of the dance was written by Soundsmith Kamachi. A hobby musican in real life, he works as an Vista Hermosa Art Center ( VHAC) director in Second Life, occassionally performing his own music in world. 

His composition for STICK DANCE is based on a percussive ostinato that repeats through all three movements of the dance, creating a fundament for pentatonic melodies and soundscapes. The music for Dance was composed solely using digital instruments.
